Don’t Want To Be Sick? Get the Flu Shot Quick!
Flu season is here, so it is important for your student to prepare for the changing temperatures and increased chance of getting sick on campus.
Late nights studying, inadequate rest and an unhealthy diet can weaken the immune system and increase the chance to catch the annual flu bug.
Take measures avoid contracting the flu
Flu vaccines are now available in the Allergy, immunization and Travel Clinic at Pat Walker Health Center. Students can receive their vaccine with no appointment necessary during the scheduled walk-in clinic hours.
Walk-in Flu Vaccine Clinic: Mondays – Fridays | 3:00 PM – 5:00 PM
Students can also call and schedule an appointment for a flu shot if they cannot make it to the walk-in clinic.
IMPORTANT NOTE: The health center does not provide class excuses. Students may find it useful to use the Absence from Class Form as a means to have appropriate communication about class absences with their professors.
The cost of a flu shot for students is $20, however most insurances cover the cost of the vaccine. If a student would like to bill their insurance provider, they should to bring their health insurance ID card with them to the health center.
Help prevent contracting and spreading the flu:
•Wash hands frequently
•If you need to cough or sneeze, use your sleeve or a tissue
•Eat health and exercise
•When sick, stay away from others: if you have a fever, stay home until you are fever-free for 24 hours without the use of fever-reducing medication
•Stay hydrated/drink lots of water
