March is an exciting yet hectic month for students as they gear up for midterms and Spring Break. Spring Break at the University of Arkansas is March 23 – 27, 2020. During this time, students begin to realize that the end of the academic year is near. They also begin thinking about the upcoming year: what classes they want to take, where they want to live in the fall, and what they will do this summer. We encourage you to talk with your student as they begin making these decisions. Even if they do not need help, your support can be essential in their success.
Spring Break Plans and Expectations
As Spring Break approaches, students will likely celebrate their week off from classes with a relaxing vacation, making extra money, or catching up with friends and family. Whatever your student decides, consider talking with them about the plans and decisions that they make during their time off. Things to consider and discuss include alcohol use, burn out and stress, safety while traveling, upcoming assignments right after the break, and finances. Keeping open lines of communication with your student and setting clear expectations will help your student to succeed inside and outside of the classroom.
Summer Classes
Want to help your student get ahead? The University of Arkansas offers summer classes to fit your student’s needs. Forget the hassle of transferring credits, summer classes at the U of A are offered online and abroad to make earning credits possible anywhere.
Summer classes at the U of A do not count against your student’s financial aid and are offered across all degrees. You can view the summer courses catalog by visiting https://registrar.uark.edu/registration/schedule-of-classes.php.
Residence Hall Closings
Students in Academic Year Halls must vacate their room for Spring Break by 5:00 PM on Friday, March 20. These halls re-open at 12:00 Noon on Sunday, March 29.
Students may leave their belongings in their rooms but will not have access to them during the break. Your student should plan accordingly and pack all of their belongings needed for the week.
Spring Break provides the opportunity for your student to bring home unused items like winter clothing or possibly a bike they no longer want (or need) on campus.
